Human Resources Assistant

The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- receives requests for personnel actions and completes required processing tasks; - enters personnel action data in an automated personnel processing system; - maintains control logs; maintains files of personnel actions and related records; - prepares a variety of employment, performance, training, medical, or other forms; - supports worker's compensation and/or security clearance programs; - maintains and posts time and attendance reports; - prepares and sends form letters and job announcements; - uses word processing, database, and other computer-based software; - transmits, receives, acknowledges, and distributes email; - receives callers in-person and by telephone and answers employment questions or refers callers to the appropriate personnel. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is:
providing references to information regarding personnel rules and regulations and policies; reviewing proposed personnel actions for completeness prior to being recorded into an automated personnel data system; and completing recurring task-based workload within at least 1 of the following human resources programs personnel action processing, personnel security/identity management, or staffing/placement. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester or 180 quarter hours) this education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university with courses related to the occupation, such as in business administration, human resources management, public administration, or the social sciences, or that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in such subjects. (One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.) You must include transcripts. -OR- Combination of specialized experience and education to total 100 percent. For example, six months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), and three years of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). You must submit a copy of your transcripts or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies for each course the college or university, semester or quarter hours earned, grade received, and date completed including date the degree was conferred. NOTE:
Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to one year of specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualification by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is utilizing personnel rules, regulations and policies to make sound process determinations; ensuring proposed personnel actions are accurate to prior to being recording into an automated personnel data systems; completing moderately difficult task-based workload within at least 2 of the following human resources programs:
personnel action processing, personnel security/identity management, or staffing/placement. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualification by close of the announcement:
Experience:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is utilizing personnel rules, regulations and policies to make sound process determinations; ensuring proposed personnel actions are accurate to prior to being recording into an automated personnel data systems; leading or mentoring lower graded HR assistants; completing difficult task-based workload within the following human resources programs:
personnel action processing, personnel security/identity management, and staffing/placement. Volunteer
Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
